Third
TWINLATIN meeting |
| |
Third
TWINLATIN meeting. The meeting was organized in
Piura-Peru from 16th to 20th October 2006. The first
three days considered a field visit to the
Catamayo-Chira basin. Starting from Loja (Ecuador)
and ending at Piura (Peru). The field trip gave a
good view of the characteristics of the river basin
in terms of landscape, soil type, land use,
different conflicts and perceptions, etc. This will
benefit further discussions on transfer of modelling
capacity, stakeholder involvement, economic analyses
etc. Representatives from both countries (transboundary
river basin) were part of this trip giving useful
comments and opinions about the TWINLATIN
activities. Meetings with local people and local
organisations from both countries took place during
the trip, giving the entire consortium a broad view
of the problems and status of the river basin from a
stakeholder perspective. A number of interviews and
radio/TV conferences were carried out. |
