  Bolivia – La Paz (12th – 15th February 2007) Training course/workshop concerning the Water Sector in Latin-Amererica. The target group of this event are the Latin-American members coming from the EU Delegation. The TWINLATIN Coordination will present the project activities and main focuses.   TWINLATIN Mid Term review Meeting
  TWINLATIN Mid Term review Meeting. This meeting will be carried out from 26th to 28th March 2007 in Leuven, Belgium. The meeting will be held at the Leuven Katholieke Universiteit, Department of Geography-Geology. This meeting is the first review meeting and two external reviewers will attend and evaluate the project findings and progresses.
  SECOND TWINLATIN MEETING
  The second TWINLATIN meeting was organised in Coyhaique-Chile from 7th to 10th March 2006. The first two days considered a field visit to the Baker river basin in order to have a better view of the landscape, land use, conflicts, etc. One of the important aspects in Baker basin is the plan for a dam construction planned to start on 2009.? The second two days the meeting focused on the progress activities and the specific areas where the project will focus the R&D activities.

The next meeting will be held in Perú/Ecuador in August 2006.

  REGIONAL WORKSHOP IN BRAZIL TO PROMOTE CO-OPERATION
  In order to organize the Latin America input to FP7 in the field of environment, Brasil is organising a regional Workshop with experts in the field from the different countries of the region. The workshop is supported by the European Commission. The workshop is being organized in Brasilia on April 18-19th.? It can be a good opportunity to discuss with the Commission participant’s new ideas for FP7 (Framework Programme 7).
  FRIEND conference
  The Fifth International FRIEND conference is being held in Cuba 27/11 to 1/12/2006. FRIEND (Flow Regimes from International, Experimental and Network Data) is a crosscutting project of the UNESCO IHP. The theme this
time is "Water Resource Variability: Processes, Analysis and Impacts".? The objective of the conference is to present the results of the UNESCO FRIEND (Flow Regimes from International Experimental and Network Data) research programme that has stimulated international cooperation to meet local and regional needs. A focus of the conference will be to discus how advances in analytical techniques and process hydrology are improving our assessment of water resource variability and the impacts of environmental change. The conference will give a high priority to establishing links with related international programmes and with related disciplines of groundwater hydrology, ecohydrology and climatology.
